Road safety

Sefton Infants School welcomes safe and careful drivers.

The entrance to the school is located in Rodd St, which is a school zone. School zones have special regulations that are designed to protect the safety of students moving to and from the school.

At peak times on school days (8am - 9:30am and 2:30pm - 4pm) the speed limit is 40km/hr. The zone near the speed hump and pedestrian crossing has a recommended speed of 25 km/hr.

When walking with very young children, always hold their hand to prevent them from making any unpredictable movements near or on the road. Children should always be taught to stop, look, listen and think before crossing a road.

Please take care when collecting or setting down children. Ensure that seat belts are correctly fitted and fastened and that vehicles are stationary when car doors are being opened or closed. Children should enter and leave a vehicle by the rear kerbside door to avoid being exposed to the traffic stream.

At the back of the school, there is a pathway that leads to a gate and driveway which is used as a rear entrance and exit to View Street. Please be careful when driving in this area as there is no marked pedestrian crossing.

Road safety is a responsibility shared by the school, parents and the community. By always taking care, concentrating and looking out for unsafe situations, together we can ensure the safety and well-being of our young people.
